Our AKASHI-KAMA Noren art pieces are crafted with Japanese fabric, and made in Iwate, Japan. They are handcrafted by a 5th generation manufacturer that has been producing artisanal goods since 1908. Another premium detail, our Noren is designed with top tabs (チチ仕立て) rather than a folding pocket - this allows the showcasing of your chosen rod material. We developed our version of the Noren over the course of the past year, traveling to snowy Morioka to bring our modern lens to this traditional product.
暖簾 Noren (lit. "warm screen") are hanging fabric pieces. Featuring a rectangular ratio, they contain vertical cuts that were designed to better allow airflow and to encourage passage. While traditionally used to gently separate rooms or spaces, our version is versatile in function — designed to hang traditionally in a doorway, or be featured as a statement wall art piece.
